Kenny Hope Retirement Dinner

Tickets are now available for the prestigious Kenny Hope Retirement Dinner, as mentioned on the home page.

Kenny is retiring after many years of service to Refereeing in Scotland and Europe. In order to mark his refereeing career, the Glasgow Referees’ Association are having a Retirement Dinner on Saturday 10th March, in the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel Glasgow ( 7pm for 7:30pm start. Ticket prices are £35 each.

Guest speakers will be ex-FIFA Referees, Willie Young and Kenny Clark, if you are a Glasgow member and would like to attend this event could you please contact the nominated person from your training area below. Alternatively, if you are not a member of the Glasgow Referees Association, we would be delighted if you are able to attend Kenny’s night. Kenny Hope

Commenced refereeing in 1961
Admitted to the List of Referees in 1966-67
Served 17 seasons as a Class 1 referee: 1974-75 to 1990-91
Served 12 seasons as a FIFA Referee (1978-79, 1980-81 to 1990)

Appointed to the following major tournaments:
1982 UEFA U18 Youth Championship
1987 FIFA U16 Youth Championship
1988 Olympic Games

Refereed the following Cup Finals:
1986- 87 Scottish Cup Final – St.Mirren v. Dundee United
1982-83 Scottish League Cup Final -Celtic v. Rangers
1990-91 Scottish League Challenge Cup Final – Ayr United v. Dundee

His record of service following his retirement as a referee was:
Referee Supervisor for Glasgow RA (East) from 1991-92 to 2002-03
Member of Referee Supervisors’ Executive Committee from 1992-93 to 2002-03
Member of Referee Committee from 2003-04 to 2008-09
Referee Observer from 1991-92 to 2010-11
UEFA Referee Observer

Kenny acted for many recent years as a Referee Liaison Officer for Scotland International matches at a variety of levels, looking after match officials.
