Introductory Classes - New Dates Announced
Becoming a referee is reasonably straightforward process
and if you want to be part of the Glasgow Association, classes
take place at the University of Strathclyde in the centre of Glasgow. Over 12 Monday nights,
you will be coached through the entrance process by our Instructors.
You could even be refereeing well before the end of the course.
Is there a minimum age to become a Ref?
You must be 16 to start refereeing in Scotland.
Do you allow females to become Referees?
Absolutely, we are extremely keen to welcome
female recruits who will be able to officiate in both men's
and women's leagues.
Is there a charge for attending a course?
A charge of £25 is made to cover local
costs including various training materials.

You will make a great referee
you have
a sense of humour!
How can I become a top referee?
Obviously you need to have ability but you
will also require to be fit, enthusiastic, willing to learn
and be part of the refereeing network in your area. You will
start off in youth leagues, progress through the ranks until
you are ready to be accepted on to the SFA's Register of Senior
Referees where you will be involved in Senior football first
as an Assistant Referee.
