John Fleming – Funeral Arrangements

Statement from the Glasgow Association Manager:

It is with great sadness, that the Scottish FA announced, earlier this week, the passing of John Fleming,  Head of Refereeing, after a long illness which he fought great dignity and without any complaint. John was former member and Past President ( 1998 -99) of Glasgow RA whilst enjoying a long and successful refereeing career achieving category 1 referee status for many seasons and officiating as a FIFA assistant referee for several years culminating in being appointed to the Euro 96 Championship Finals in England along with Les Mottram and Bobby Orr.

John was a regular at the East training area and a long standing member of Glasgow’s management committee. Throughout his membership he was a great ambassador for the Association and was always keen to promote and protect the interests and welfare of all members.  John’s hard work, dedication and commitment over many years significantly contributed to Glasgow’s proclamation that it’s the best and biggest Refereeing Association.  He will be greatly missed from the refereeing family.

My thoughts and sincere condolences go to his family, work colleagues at the Scottish FA and all friends.

John’s funeral is to be a Daldowie Crematorium  on Thursday 31st October at 3.45pm.  A large turnout is expected and car sharing is recommended.
