“Old Firm” come together to boost the Beatson Pebble Appeal

Glasgow referees Stevie O’Reilly, Craig Napier and Ross Birrell took part in an ‘Old Firm challenge’ on the 3rd of June at Giffnock North Sports Club, to raise funds for the Tommy Burns Campaign; for the benefit of the Beatson Cancer Research Centre.

A great day was had by all; during a keenly contested Old Firm affair…with the greens edging a tense penalty shoot out, following a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

Organisers, Claire Gracie and Graeme Brunton produced a sterling effort; raising just over £4,000 on the day, culminating in a charity auction evening hosted by Radio Clyde’s football phone-in panellist, Hugh Keevins. Claire actually won the prize draw to appear as a guest panellist on the show; so thankfully, theClydelisteners will be able to hear someone talking some sense for a change!

Claire and Graeme also wish to thank Willie Collum who kindly donated a shirt from his Europa ¼ Final match last season, for the charity auction.

Details of the charity can be found on the following link; http://www.beatsonpebbleappeal..org/
