Charity Cycle Raises £1750

The association is delighted to announce that it has passed on a cheque for £1750 to the Schehallion Ward at Yorkhill Hospital.

The money was raised during this year’s charity cycle in June. 7 members took part in this year’s cycle, which took in the scenic route from Linlithgow to Anniesland via the Falkirk wheel, a total of 35miles. During the ride they had to conquer Scotland’s longest and tallest aqueduct over the river Avon as well as the nations longest canal tunnel (630meters). As if that wasn’t enough it was also a typical summer’s day in Scotland with the rain worsening as the day wore on.

Thankfully the weather didn’t dampen the spirits and all the riders successfully completed the route without any major mechanical mishaps (just a few sore limbs and other parts of the body!).

A big thank you to all the riders: Stuart, Chris, Gordon, Alan, John and Steven and a special thank-you goes to Gary Gentles and Jim Burns for providing the Transportation on the day.

Next years cycle is already in the planning stages and we hope more members will come along and enjoy the day.
