Message from Association Manager

I would like to wish all members of the Glasgow Association and our colleagues throughout Scotland a successful and happy New Year.  The last few months of this year have not been the most fortunate for Refereeing, given the loss of the Head of Referee Development, resignation of two senior officials, the withdrawal of labour for a week and the horrific weather that has seen many referees and clubs out of action since mid November.

There are obviously aspects of the above that have still to be addressed by the Glasgow Association and the Scottish Football Association in the coming months and I trust that as an Association we will work together in ensuring that the integrity of refereeing is incontestable.

Despite the lack of action recently the Association has been delighted to acknowledge the recent promotion of Steven McLean to Category 3 on the FIFA List of Referees.  Well done Steven.

Arrangements for training have been difficult over the past few weeks due to the weather but we have been fortunate to get accommodation indoors at Scotstoun and Hampden.  Scotstoun is now closed until January 5, and Hampden is available again next week on Tuesday (4th January) evening.   Details of arrangements after that will be posted on the web site but hopefully will be back to normal by then.

Our new training class starts on 10th January and I hope that the weather relents and you can all get back to refereeing matches again as soon as possible,

Bryan Robertson
